Duterte Extends lockdown until May 15

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has extended an enhanced community lockdown in the major cities and provinces in Philippines until May 15 to attempt to contain coronavirus contaminations, yet will ease limitations in lower-chance areas of the nation, Spokesman Harry Roque said on Friday.

The ECq, as the measures are called, would be extended to include different places of the Philippines with huge quantities of contaminations, yet limitations somewhere else would be altered, with gradual resumption of work and business movement.

Duterte affirmed the suggestions of an emergency meeting late on Thursday, presidential spokesman Harry Roque told columnists in an instant message. The choice would mean two months of severe lockdown for Manila, where about 70% of the nation's 6,981 cases have been recorded.
